Alvaro Casanova Zenteno: proceres de la pintura chilena
Álvaro Casanova Zenteno, pintor chileno, se destacó por su pasión por los paisajes costeros y navales, siendo considerado el sucesor de Tomás J. Somerscales en Valparaíso. Aunque no estudió en la Academia de pintura, recibió enseñanzas de destacados maestros como Pascual Ortega, Onofre Jarpa Labra y Enrique Swinburn. Su obra, objetiva y realista, refleja una profunda conexión con la naturaleza y la historia naval de Chile.
Después de la Revolución de 1891, fue deportado a Chiloé, donde su producción artística alcanzó su máximo esplendor. Sus cuadros capturan la vida costera, los amaneceres, los barcos en Angelmó y escenas de pescadores, dejando un legado perdurable en la representación del mar y la costa chilena.
