Watercolor (1952) of Chucao Beach, by the renowned Chilean artist and National Art Prize winner, Nemesio Antúnez (1918–1993) was a prominent Chilean painter and printmaker. He was born in Santiago, Chile, and studied architecture before dedicating himself to art. His artistic career began in New York, where he was influenced by Abstract Expressionism and Modern Art. Antúnez was an innovator in printmaking, founding Taller 99 in Chile, a key space for the development of this technique in the country. His work encompasses themes such as nature, the cosmos, and the human figure, and is characterized by his use of color and experimentation with textures. He was also an important cultural promoter in Chile.
