A unique bronze object depicting a child carrying a cross, accompanied by a skull. This figure is placed over the face of Jesus with the crown of thorns, which can be opened like a lid, revealing a small storage space.
This is a curious object, as it serves two purposes. On the one hand, it's a Memento Mori, that is, an object that reminds us of our own mortality. Hence the skull and cross, recurring symbols in this type of object, originating in ancient Rome, where generals used them as a sign of humility and which later became a very present object in Christianity. On the other hand, the crown of thorns cap indicates that this object, hung on the wall, must have served as a holy water container for the entrance to a church.
