A beautiful work by the French painter Marié Joseph León IWill (1850-1923). The painting depicts boats returning from fishing on the shore on a cloudy day. The painting is framed in an imposing carved gold frame.
Marié Joseph León IWill, was a French artist born in Paris in 1850 and died in 1923.
In 1875, Leon participated in his first exhibition at the Paris Salon, which led him to adopt the name IWill because he observed that when Americans and Englishmen decided to triumph, they would say IWill. Initially, it was written as two words, IWill, and soon after, it became IWill.
Will gained stature due to the appreciation for his paintings, which have been described as "full of light" and with "great power in the selection of subjects." He said, "I have the greatest respect for anything, even the smallest sketch, made directly from nature." In addition to painting in France, he worked in England, Holland, and Italy.
