She wears a simple dress and a white apron, suggesting she is from a humble background rather than an aristocrat. The painting is executed with skill and mastery of the watercolor technique, capturing details with definition and nuanced tones, light, and shadow. On the back, a passe-partout bears a certificate of authenticity from Antonio Serdegué, an antique dealer from Madrid, confirming that this watercolor was found in an album belonging to Palmaroli, dating from his time in Rome between 1863 and 1865. The work is framed in carved wood with a luminous gilt finish.
