A decorative icon of Russian origin, hand-painted wood with a velvet backing and 84-karat silver plating, embossed with beautiful reliefs. The icon depicts Saint Pantaleon of Nicomedia, a great martyr and healing saint, originally from Turkey, but especially popular in Russia through the Orthodox Church. The iconography shows the saint with a small cross and a scalpel. His figure symbolizes medicine, compassion, and Christian martyrdom, and is considered an important cultural and spiritual bridge between East and West.
Dimensions: 9 x 2 x 9 cm high.
Condition: Shows signs of deterioration due to age. Dents in the silver.
