Pair of 19th century Italian micromosaics in bronze frames, 'Gallant Scenes'
An incredible pair of 19th-century Italian micromosaics, elegantly framed in bronze with a frieze and relief legs. Both mosaics depict courtship scenes, in which couples share a gesture of affection. The scenes are rendered with an extraordinary level of detail, capturing, through this technique of using tiny, hand-enameled glass tesserae, the different light and textures of the materials, the folds of the garments, and even skin tones.
These are Victorian decorative pieces of great historical and artisanal value that, although they began to be manufactured in the 18th century, reached their maximum popularity during the 19th century, being produced in large Italian cities such as Rome and Florence.
Dimensions: Frame 24 cm wide x 4 cm deep x 33 cm high and Micromosaic 13.5 cm wide x 21 cm high.
Condition: In good condition.
