These rugs, woven in Pakistan, draw on the design tradition of the Turkmen Tekke tribe and are characterized by a repetitive pattern of oval or elephant-foot-shaped geometric motifs, known as gules . These designs typically appear in shades of red, yellow, green, and white. In this particular rug, the design unfolds in shades of red, black, and white. Another distinctive feature of this beautiful rug is its thick border, which highlights the intricate geometric pattern used to border most oriental rugs.
