Large Iranian Baluch rug, 1970s, 200x330cm

A beautiful rug from the nomadic Baloch tribe (also spelled Beluch, Balochi, or Belochi) of northeastern Iran, bordering Afghanistan. This rug is characterized by its exceptional softness, a result of its particularly compact knotting technique, which makes it lighter and more flexible. It is estimated to be over forty years old, yet its excellent condition allows it to continue to be used in living rooms and other large spaces where its magnificence can be fully appreciated. This handcrafted piece is notable for its use of natural pigments, predominantly red, and features small geometric patterns throughout. The border incorporates cobalt blue and other earthy tones.
