DESCRIPCIÓN

Painting attributed to Ramón Subercaseaux Vicuña, painter. He was born in Valparaíso on April 1, 1854, and died in Viña del Mar on January 20, 1937. A member of a wealthy family and possessing a great culture and artistic sensibility, he demonstrated his skill as a draftsman from a very young age while a private student of the maestro Ernesto Kirchbach. He also cultivated musical interests, played the violin, and was the founder of the Musical Club, composed of an orchestra and a men's choir. In 1874, he suspended his fourth-year law studies at the University of Chile to dedicate himself to painting as a self-taught artist.
