DESCRIPCIÓN
A unique bronze object depicting a child carrying a cross, accompanied by a skull. This figure is positioned over the face of Jesus wearing the crown of thorns, which can be opened like a lid, revealing a small storage compartment.
This is a curious object, as it serves two purposes. On the one hand, it is a Memento Mori, that is, an object that reminds us of our own mortality. Hence the skull and cross, recurring symbols on this type of object, originally from ancient Rome, where generals used them as a sign of humility, and which later became a prominent symbol in Christianity. On the other hand, the cap shaped like a crown of thorns suggests that this object, hung on the wall, must have served as a container of holy water for the entrance of a church.
