DESCRIPCIÓN
A marvelous Christ on the Cross by the Chilean Master Craftsman Juan Reyes (1924-2012) – recipient of the 2011 Seal of Excellence for Craftsmanship – is a rustic wooden crucifix featuring a unique Christ figure in ormolu bronze and copper. He is dressed in a Mapuche chief's blanket inlaid with lapis lazuli, wearing sandals, and without a crown of thorns, but with a beautiful golden halo inlaid with turquoise. He also lacks the nails. This Christ is depicted without the classic Caucasian features, instead displaying more mestizo characteristics. The artist's characteristic talent for working in relief led him to create masterpieces of what is now known as 'urban art'.
