Onofre Jarpa: contemplación y naturalismo en el paisaje
Onofre Jarpa Labra (1849-1940) fue un influyente pintor paisajista chileno, reconocido por su detallismo y sensibilidad romántica. Formado en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Santiago y perfeccionado en Europa, trabajó junto a maestros como Francisco Pradilla y Marco Calderini. Su etapa en Venecia marcó su auge artístico, adoptando el naturalismo y el plenairismo. Aunque sus paisajes son su mayor legado, también destacó en retratos y bodegones, como el óleo "Crisantemos", que combina precisión académica con emotividad.
Jarpa fue maestro de destacados artistas, incluyendo a Alberto Valenzuela Llanos, y su obra influyó en figuras como Agustín Abarca. Su pintura, como "Palmas de Ocoa" y "Laguna de Aculeo", refleja una conexión espiritual con la naturaleza. Religioso y sereno, continuó pintando hasta su muerte en 1940. Su legado perdura en colecciones privadas y museos como el Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, consolidándolo como un pilar del arte romántico chileno.
