Benito Rebolledo: El arte sin cuna de oro
Benito Rebolledo (1880 - 1964): Nacido en Curicó proveniente de una familia campesina sin recursos, manifestó una fuerte inclinación por el arte desde su infancia. Viaja a Santiago durante el período de migración del campo a la ciudad ocurrido en Chile de fines del siglo XIX. Llegando a Santiago tuvo que trabajar de obrero para sobrevivir, lo cual le dio una perspectiva muy realista de la vida y que comenzó a plasmar en sus obras. Entró a estudiar Bellas Artes, donde tuvo de profesores a Pedro Lira y Francisco González.
Sus primeras obras inspiradas en los contextos sociales de la época no tuvieron mayor interés, sin embargo fueron sus paisajes, desnudos frente al mar, pinturas de animales y escenas bíblicas y sus últimos retratos, lo que lo llevó a ser reconocido como artista, por su gran talento para representar la realidad con detalle y realismo único.
